What We Do

Intellectual engagement.  Professional engagement.  Social engagement.

Our Working Papers in Museum Studies capture emerging scholarship on a diversity of topics, considered from a variety of vantage points, emanating from both academe and the museum community, from seasoned professionals and new thinkers alike.

SPACES, the newsletter of the Museum Studies Program, offers a snapshot of the fast paced world of the Program, highlighting student accomplishment, and providing news of Michigan alumni now in leadership positions across the country.

Course projects and internship experiences offer multiple possibilities for direct engagement with outstanding collections and professional mentors on campus, in the local community, across the nation, and around the globe.

An active schedule of museum site visits, multiple social gatherings, classes with others who share similar passions, and special opportunities to gather outside of class with leaders in the profession all contribute to producing highly engaged students. Many students have come to consider the Museum Studies Program their intellectual “home away from home.”
